MANAGEMENTOF URBAN PHC (UPHC-SHANDHAPUR, BIDYADHARPUR) BARANG, CUTTACK


NEW INDIA has been associated with Urban PHC (UPHC) at Bidyadharpur, Baranga in Cuttack city with the basic philosophy of “Inclusive Growth’ in the primary health care service through PPP Mode of NHM, Odisha as per mandate of the Government. FY 2023-24 marks the 8th year of management of the UPHC in Cuttack district by NEW INDIA.
The organisation took over the charge of management of UPHC-2 on 27 December 2016. The UPHC Management program is being regularly monitored and guided by the CDMO, Cuttack and ADMO (PH) Cuttack. The services of the UPHC are mentioned as under.
• OPD Consultation (Morning 8-11 AM and 5-8 PM)
• Weekly special OPD Services (O&G) and Pediatrics
• Free medicine as per the Govt. EDI
• Diagnostic services: Pathology test, i.e. Malaria, Dengue, Hemoglobin, Urine , Albumin and sugar, RPR test for syphilis and Blood Grouping and Rh typing etc.

The basic services which the UPHC, Bidyadharpur, Baranga offers are, Clinical/Institution based service, Maternal Health• Early registration of all pregnancies in the first trimester (before 12th week of pregnancy). However, even if a woman comes late in her pregnancy for registration she is registered and more care given to her according to gestational age. Recording of tobacco use by all antenatal mothers done. Minimum 4 antenatal checkups and provision of complete package of services during the specialist visit, • Follow up with high risk cases • Tracking of left out ANC cases. • Associated services like providing iron and folic acid tablets, Tetanus Toxoid injection etc. Ensuring at-least 1 ANC preferably the 3rd visit are seen by a doctor. • Counseling services • Nutrition and health counseling. Brief advice on tobacco cessation if the antenatal mother is a smoker or tobacco user also informed about dangers of second hand smoke. • Identification and management of high risk and alarming signs during pregnancy and labour. Timely referral of such identified cases to FRUs/ other hospitals which are beyond the capacity of Medical Officer UPHC to manage. • Free services under communicable and non-communicable diseases free of cost are provided in the UPHC. SAB Delivery Services 20 in UPHC with DP. Family Welfare (FW) services, • Education, Motivation and Counseling to adopt appropriate Family planning methods. • Provision of contraceptives such as condoms, oral pills, emergency contraceptives, IUCD insertions. • Referral and Follow up services to the eligible couples adopting permanent methods (Tubectomy/Vasectomy p) • Counseling and appropriate referral for couples having infertility.

Management of Reproductive Tract Infection: Sexually Transmitted Infections. Health education for prevention of RTI/STIs. • Treatment of RTI/STIs. Nutrition Services (coordinated with ICDS) • Diagnosis and nutrition advice to malnourished children, pregnant women and others. • Diagnosis and management of anemia and vitamin A deficiency. Referral of SAM cases to NRC in the fixed day

Immunization services Immunization sessions are being held on each Wednesday in all the immunization points and hospital. The Staff Nurse ensures immunization in the UPHC. The ANM organizes minimum 4 sessions in every Wednesday of the month. She organizes the sessions based on the micro plan developed at the UPHC at Bidyadharpur, Baranga in Cuttack city.

MANAGEMENTOF URBAN PHC(UPHC- Burla, Sambalpur)


The significant achievement of NEW INDIA to focus the community health needs of Burla in a land mark. The organization took the responsibility for management of UPHC-Burla since 2021. In the UPHC, promotived, curative, preventive and rehabilitee service measures are provided to the community to ensure effective means of community health delivery system. NEW INDIA manages the UPHC, Burla under PPP mode. FREE HEALTH CHECK UP AND MEDICINE DISTRIBUTION CAMP


On 21-01-2024, NEW INDIA organized a health check up camp at Siaria club in Sadar block Dhenkanal. Mrs. Manasmita and Mr. Natorram Sahoo, Director, Angul United Central Cooperative Bank, inaugurated the program. Mr. Saroj Kumar Rout, Regional Head, Union Bank and Mr. Pabani Kumar prusty, Branch Manager, and Mr. Jajati Kishore Mohanty, Advocate, Odisha High Court attended the program. Dr. Abani Kumar Nanda, Dr. Narayan Singh, Dr. Rashmi Behera, Dr. Suchismita Satapathy, Mr. Sudhakar Sahoo, Pharmacist and Mr. Nibarana Behera, LT and Mrs. Rasmita Swain, Health worker were operated the program. There were more than 850 patients from Talabarkote, Govindpur and Nadiali GP attended the program. Mr. Sheshadeb Rout and Mrs. Manasmita coordinated the program.
